Director Wu Chih-Hsiang Hosts Luncheon for Bay Area Media and Overseas Community Leaders in Celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival
At noon on September 30, 2025, newly appointed Director Wu Chih-Hsiang of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in San Francisco hosted a luncheon at the TECO banquet hall on the third floor, welcoming Bay Area media representatives and Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) commissioners to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. The event provided an opportunity to strengthen ties and allowed Director Wu to share an overview of his future priorities and policy directions.
The luncheon was filled with warmth and lively conversation. Attendees included several OCAC commissioners as well as editors and reporters from Bay Area Chinese-language media. Catering was provided by Joy Tsin Lau Restaurant, featuring authentic Taiwanese flavors. The Taiwanese sausage and stir-fried rice noodles were especially well received.
In his remarks, Director Wu expressed appreciation to the media for their longstanding support and coverage of Taiwan’s overseas community affairs. He emphasized that the overseas community is a vital asset for Taiwan and reaffirmed that TECO will continue fostering two-way exchanges to strengthen the bond between overseas Taiwanese and their homeland. Smiling, he added that the main purpose of the luncheon was “to let everyone enjoy a hearty meal and celebrate the festival,” noting that in the future he would serve as both a “promoter and messenger,” actively introducing Taiwan’s unique qualities to American friends so that more people can better understand Taiwan.
Also present was Mrs. Liu Jo-Yin, wife of Director Wu, who warmly greeted media members and community leaders. Her friendliness left a lasting impression among attendees.
Media representatives pledged to continue fulfilling their journalistic role, providing timely information to the community, and looked forward to close cooperation with TECO in information-sharing and event promotion. The OCAC commissioners warmly welcomed Director Wu’s arrival and expressed hope that, under his leadership, the Bay Area overseas Taiwanese community will receive greater support and resources.
The luncheon concluded in a cordial atmosphere. Each guest received a Mid-Autumn Festival gift box, sharing the joy of the holiday. Director Wu also joined attendees for a group photo, symbolizing a promising new chapter of collaboration between the new TECO director, Bay Area media, and the overseas community.
