10月乃流感高峰期，Sacramento衛生專家呼籲市民在今季提早注射流感疫苗。

因為疫苗注射後需要大約兩個星期才能生效，醫生辦公室，診所和醫院一般在10月前就會準備及存放好流感疫苗，為市民提供注射服務。專家認為疫苗應及早注射。

今年的流感季節應該沒有比去年差。

醫生David Herbert表示：「我們靠病菌品種來預測流感季節的情況，今年並沒有新的病菌品種，因此我們相信今年流感季節情況並不差。」

Herbert表示：「最惡劣的流感季節發生在2009年，因為當時甲型H1N1流感病毒從墨西哥傳到美國。」

今年將提供與去年相同的疫苗配方。

今年10月開始，衛生官員將開始提供免費注射流感疫苗。美國兒科學會建議， 6個月以上的小孩，以及所有成年人適合接種疫苗。對於害怕打針的小孩，可選用噴鼻劑。
