Consumer Reports建議停用某些肉桂 

在被召回的含肉桂蘋果泥袋導致500多名兒童鉛中毒一年後,新研究進一步引發對這種烘焙食品中常用香料的擔憂。這種香料經常撒在咖啡和燕麥片上。

根據Consumer Reports週四公佈的調查結果,三分之一肉桂粉和含肉桂香料混合物中鉛含量令人擔憂。

根據該宣導組織,在Connecticut、New Jersey、紐約州和網上17家商店購買的36個品牌中,12個品牌鉛含量超過百萬分之一,這是觸發紐約(全國唯一監管香料重金屬含量的州)實施召回的門檻值。

Consumer Reports 食品安全研究和測試主管微生物學家James Rogers在談到鉛含量最高的12個品牌時說:「如果你有這些產品,我們認為你應把它扔掉。」他補充道:「即使是少量鉛也帶來風險,因為隨著時間推移,它在體內積聚並持續多年,嚴重危害健康。」

根據Centers for Disease Control and Prevention3月最新消息,聯邦和州官員仍在調查與44個州、District of Columbia 和Puerto Rico519起食物中毒病例有關的疫情。Food and Drug Administration對17種高含鉛量肉桂粉產品發出警告。

短期接觸極低水準鉛可能不會導致症狀,但長期接觸會對中樞神經系統造成永久性損傷,導致兒童學習障礙和其他發育缺陷。據健康官員,慢性鉛暴露與成年人腎臟問題、高血壓和不良認知影響有關。
