十多所灣區高中成為National Merit Scholarship專案的贏家，它們都有學生獲得了上大學獎學金。
National Merit Scholarship Corporation本週公佈了年度獎學金計畫第一批獲獎者名單，1000多名十二年級學生獲得了來自160家企業、社團和公司基金會的獎學金。
獲獎者是從獲得National Merit Scholarship決賽資格的學生中挑選出來的，並且符合贊助者的某些標準。大多數獲獎者可以在大學期間每年獲得500至10000元的津貼。
這些決賽入圍者來自大約16000名半決賽入圍者。通過參加上一年Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test，這些半決賽入圍者憑藉自己的成績取得資格。這項考試有大約160萬名十一年級學生參加。
為進入決賽，學生必須提交一份獎學金申請，反映他們的學業成績、學校和社區活動參與能力、領導能力、工作經歷以及所獲得的任何榮譽或獎項。
社團獎獲得學生在今年National Merit Scholarship Corporation公佈的首批獲獎者中。National Merit Scholarship Corporation將在5月8日公佈National Merit $2500 Scholarships獲獎者，在6月公佈Merit Scholarship獲獎者。到競賽結束時，今年將有約7600名學生獲得總值超過3100萬元National Merit Scholarship獎學金。
